Since the beginning of the year, chickenpox has infected around 4.2 thousand people in Bishkek

The Center for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance reported 4,165 instances of chickenpox in Bishkek during the first five months of 2022, with 3,571 of these being children under the age of 14.

According to studies, most youngsters become unwell after seeing a sick child at school or in a preschool. Children between the ages of one and ten make up the bulk of sick children, with three to four-year-olds having the highest frequency. Because the mother’s immunity is passed down through the placenta and breast milk, children under the age of six months are practically immune to chickenpox.

A sick individual is the only source of infection. The level of susceptibility is really high. Patients are contagious at the end of the incubation phase, 48 hours before the rash emerges, and up to 5 days after the rash’s last component appears. The transmission takes place over the air.

The symptoms begin with a temperature increase to 38-39 degrees, followed by weakness, appetite loss, and a headache. A rash arises at the same time. The duration of a fever is usually three to five days. The body temperature rises with each new pandemic.

Red patches emerge first, followed by papules, vesicles, and finally a crust at the rash’s location after 1-2 days. The sickness takes two to three weeks to recover from. In 10-12 days, the crusts will fall off.

After the illness, immunity develops and lasts for the remainder of one’s life.

Taking preventative precautions

The patient is isolated, then ventilated and thoroughly cleaned.

Following contact, children’s facilities are quarantined for 21 days, during which time they are not permitted to accept new children or transfer from one group to another (class). All children are evaluated in the morning (thermometry, skin and mucous membrane tests, etc.) , and any children who are found to be sick are withdrawn from visiting and informed of their parents.

The varicella zoster virus causes chickenpox, an acute, extremely contagious airborne disease. It’s a very contagious and infectious sickness. A rash on the skin and mucous membranes with tiny bubbles characterises it.
