Samples of serum, blood and tissue of the cow were collected by a BMC team and sent to the Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory in Pune. While BMC has vaccinated most cows across ‘tabelas’ and ‘gaushalas’ in the city, the state has vaccinated all in and around Aarey colony, said Dr S Pethe, deputy commissioner, animal husbandry.
The vaccination drive was carried out after two animals from the farm were detected with LSD. Both animals recovered, said Dr Pethe. He said all animals within 5km of Aarey have been vaccinated. “All cow class animals in Aarey Colony have already been vaccinated. The cows in gaushalas and cowsheds in Mumbai have been vaccinated by BMC,” he said.
