According to the statistics from the animal husbandry department, the Jalgaon district has witnessed the death of 302 cattle and has vaccinated 111% of the above 3 lakh cow class cattle. At the same time, when the vaccination has significantly increased in Ahmednagar, the deaths have also increased from 53 to 184.
Dr GR Patil, the assistant commissioner of the animal husbandry department, said, “Earlier orders were only to vaccinate the cattle that fall in the infected zone within a 5 km radius of the village where the infected cattle were found. Now, instead of this ‘ring vaccination’ the ‘clean vaccination’ concept is being implemented, which means vaccinating every cattle,” said the officer.
Jalgaon is the worst affected district in the Nashik division with 8,002 infections, of which 3,769 cattle have been cured and 302 died. So far, the department has vaccinated 6.41 lakh cattle of the total 5.77 lakh as per the census.
In Ahmednagar, 3,947 cases of LSD have been reported, of which 2,173 have recovered and 184 died. So far, the department has vaccinated 11.69 lakh cattle.
535 cattle deaths have been reported in the Nashik division.
