Chief veterinary officer, Bijnor, Vijendra Singh said, “There are at least 3.98 lakh bovines in Bijnor district and we have received 35,000 vaccines as of now. We have appealed to the cattle owners to inform veterinary experts as soon as they notice LSD symptoms in cattle.”
Elaborating on the symptoms of LSD, Singh said, “The animals start losing weight, suffer from fever and lesions occur in the mouth. Pregnant cows suffer miscarriage and some from reduced milk yield. If not given treatment on time, they may die due to infection.”
He cautioned cattle owners to keep infected animals segregated. Harveer Dabas
