Gandhinagar,Tuesday:  Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel visited Lumpy skin disease highly affected Kutch district, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Shri Raghavji Patel also joined Chief Minister in this visit.

Chief Minister also visited the isolation centre located in Bhuj of Kutch district where the cattle affected are kept in isolation.

37840 cattle are affected by lumpy skin disease in the entire district. As many as 26 isolation centers have been set up in 10 talukas of the district to isolate the cattle affected and also they are treated and taken care of.

Chief Minister visited isolation centre in Bhuj and obtained details regarding what kind of treatment is given to the cattle and how their care is taken.

In order to prevent further spread of Lumpy Skin Disease in Kutch district vaccination of more than two  lakh livestock has been carried out by Animal Husbandry Department and district administration.

In 20 districts of the entire state this epidemic has been recorded.

So far more than 10 lakh 6 thousand animals have been vaccinated in those districts. More than 6 lakh vaccine doses are also available at the district level for this purpose.

222 Veterinary Officers, 713 Livestock Inspectors are engaged in intensive survey, treatment and vaccination operations to provide treatment and vaccinate cattle affected by Lumpy Skin Disease.

Not only that, A total of 107 members, graduates, post-graduates and teachers of the state veterinary college, have been stationed in Jamnagar, Devbhoomi-Dwarka and Banaskantha besides Kutch.

175 people from Kamdhenu University have been sent to boost vaccination for Kutch district.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel also visited the vaccination centre and obtained details regarding the stock of vaccine available and also how it is preserved.

Chief Minister also held a meeting with the district officials at the District Collector’s office.

To stop Lumpy skin disease from spreading further Chief Minister suggested to take necessary measures to control diseases that spread through germs.

He urged the district officials to ensure that the dead animals must be disposed off in a scientific manner.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel also reviewed the measures for treatment being taken by the administrative system against Lumpy skin disease found in the cattle of Kutch district with the officials of the district system.

The Chief Minister in this meeting said that, district administration must create and spread awareness so that the cattle breeders become aware about vaccinating cattle so that they remain safe.

Arrangements should also be made to keep non-hereditary animals in isolation centres if found affected.

He also requested the cattle breeders of the district that, If they found that their cattle is affected by the disease, than they must be  isolated from other animals, Or should be placed in an isolation centre to prevent the spread of this disease widely.

It was stated in this meeting that There are as many as 58 veterinary ambulance services in the district. Out of 964 villages of the district, 585 cattle of  villages are affected by this disease.

37 thousand animals have been affected by this disease. Out of these 3467 cases are active cases. 50 thousand animals have been treated. Not only that, 2.26 lakh cattle have been vaccinated.

By vaccinating 20 thousand cattle daily in Kutch district. An action plan for intensive vaccination for the remaining 3.30 lakh cattle has also been put into effect whose details were provided by District Development Officer Shri Bhavya Verma.

Sufficient quantity of vaccine has been allotted by the state government in the district to curb this disease.

Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture, Farmers welfare, Co-operation and Animal Husbandry Department Shri Mukesh Puri ,Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Pankaj Joshi and Director of Animal Husbandry Smt  Falguni etc joined Chief Minister.

Kutch District Collector Ms. Praveena, District Development Officer Shri Bhavya Verma along with MLAs, office bearers, dairy chairman and leaders also joined in this meeting.
